Cannabis Legalization and Accessibility

Cannabis use in oncology patients appears to be increasing and it should come as no surprise. More and more states are adopting cannabis legislation both for medical and adult use. As of October 2021, there are 36* states plus the District of Columbia (D.C.) that have legalized medical cannabis and 19 states plus D.C. have legalized adult use cannabis. Furthermore, we expect 7 states to have adult use cannabis legislation on the ballot in 2022 which could mean more than half of the U.S. supports adult use. In addition to the rise of cannabis legalization, we have had an explosion of cannabidiol, and other non-impairing cannabinoids hit the market thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill which descheduled hemp.
